Item Description

Without any doubts, this ensemble is very rare (well not as rare as chicken teeth but very close).  Very early airborne Camouflage set that belonged a South Vietnamese major (Thieu Ta).  Characteristics:

A.  1962-dated. Indication that this is the FIRST type as the second (more dull) did not come out til 1964.

B.  Besides its usual QM stamps (T.T.S. X.Q.T = Trung Tam San Xuat Quan Trang = Fabricating Center of  Military Garments), it also has the “exclusive” SVN Airborne Brigade QM stamps” as well.

C.  Extensively worn and repaired.

This Huyet (blood cake) camouflage pattern has been incorrectly called by various names PINKS, PURPLES, and even BULLET PROOF for decades. The South Vietnamese called it more of  a uniquely and correctly name of HUYET (in English is litterally BLOOD CAKE or CURD). This better-described name actually got its name from the main and dominant “so-called” brown color.  It  was called as HUYET since the begin of its appearance in the early 60’s by its creators.
